Aetherion
Aetherion
is an atmospheric pixel box: a tiny sky that is never the same twice.
Time of day, season, latitude, and weather are all simulated, so the sky changes the way a real one does. Golden hour fades into twilight. Stars, planets, and the Moon rise in their proper places. Aurora curtains ripple at high latitudes, and storms roll in with rain, snow, and thunder. Everything is lit by one dithered lighting pass, so every glow and shadow keeps that hand-pixeled look.
It’s also a toy. Click and drag to paint with light: your glowing strokes spill onto the clouds and tint the sky around them. Tap a star and it wakes into a living constellation. Drag the clouds around, and light them from inside.
When you’re done playing, let it run:
- Screensaver mode hides every control and slowly drifts through scenes. Any input exits.
- Exhibition mode runs Fullscreen with the UI locked away, ideal for a second monitor or a quiet corner of a room.
- Screenshot key saves crisp pixel-perfect PNGs, up to 1280×800.
Six hand-tuned scenes, a layered ambient soundscape, and an optional CRT filter. No goals, no score, nothing to win. Just a small, quiet sky that’s yours.
Windows. Portable, no install.
