GENERAL PURPOSE CONTAINER

Congratulations on your new HV-BX! Inside you will find 36 everyday objects, carefully chosen for their usefulness. HaffnerVision Co. assumes no responsibility for unexpected discoveries.

What is it?

You get a cardboard box and a little workbench. Pick things up, put them together, and see what happens. A battery and a flashlight make a working flashlight.  See how many combinations you can find!

36 objects in the box. 298 to find. Every object you make goes on your shelf and can be used again.

286 recipes. Most are quick two-item ideas. Some take three or four things, and a few care where on the bench you put them.

The workbench grows. It starts at 2×2 and gets bigger as you invent more.

A Field Manual that never spoils. Stuck? Ask for a hint, one step at a time: what it is near, then what to try, then what to try it with. You choose how much help you want.

Something is wrong with the box. Some of what you make doesn't quite behave. Keep an eye on the operator's objective line.

A late-80s corporate soundtrack  that builds as your inventions pile up, and a small ambient room around the box.

A real 1991 HaffnerVision commercial at the start. Skip it any time.

How to play

Drag an object from the box or shelf onto the workbench, or click it and click a square.

Double-click an object to send it to the bench; double-click it on the bench to send it back where it came from.

- Press  COMBINE. If nothing happens, the bench will tell you whether you're missing something or have too much.

- CATALOG opens the Field Manual: everything you've found, everything still unsolved, and the hint buttons.

- Mouse wheel or swipe flips through your shelf. Sort it by newest, A–Z, or tier.
